Typology with hammer blows is a performance created by Benjamin Efrati in 2010. Hijacking Nietzsche’s slogan according to which philosophy is practiced with hammer blows, in order to auscultate the sculptural concepts of Western culture, it is a question here of defining a typology of art forms. In this performance, each main aesthetic paradigm is represented as a “prepared egg”, holding its description within its shell.

As modern and contemporary aesthetics seek to disguise their real ideological content, making these concepts express their own secret sound would not be enough. The hammer is used to show what stuff each paradigm is made of.
